Diode Communications offers dialup Internet to our Diller Telephone customers.  The speeds vary between 19.2k and 56k depending on how far away you are from the central office which is based in the middle of the town you are dialing for access.

Postini - junk/virus mail service

Along with our value added services, we offer a virus/junk mail filter for your internet accounts called Postini.  The service is only $1.00/month for the first email address and $.50 for every addition address.  Generally speaking, Postini filters out about 90% of all email sent to our customers.  This means, for every 10 emails sent to our customers 9 of them have a virus in them or are just junk mail.

 

How does dialup work?

Dialup works on the same principle as your telephone.  Your computer calls up our computer using what is called a "handshake" to get in sync with our computer.  Once that is accomplished, data is transmitted back and forth over the phone by way of a strange noise.  You generally hear the noise right when you dialup but once the handshake is complete it shouldn't be heard any more.
